Area classification is a method of analysing and classifying the environment where explosive atmospheres may occur in quantities such as to require special precautions to protect the safety of workers. The main purpose is to facilitate the proper selection and installation of apparatus to be used safely in that environment, taking into account the properties of the flammable materials that will be present. Subsequently following the study, the extents of the hazardous area are determined resulting in the need to produce documentation detailing the extents of these zones and the impact on the existing equipment which may or may not require changing to be suitably rated.

Our mechanical engineering team have produced 3D models using the Autodesk inventor package showing the Hazardous Area Zones Boundary Limits detailed in the images below. Internally we have a wealth of expertise to carry out the selection of suitable rated equipment for all hazardous area environments.
